Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how QSO Pro (the "App") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application. By using QSO Pro, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information Collection and Use

Precise Location Data

QSO Pro requests access to your device's precise location to enable core features:

  • Nearby Locations Map: To display your current position and identify nearby POTA (Parks on the Air) and SOTA (Summits on the Air) references.
  • Distance Calculations: To calculate the distance between your location and radio activation sites.

Location data is processed in real-time on your device. We do not store your location history on any external servers.

Amateur Radio Log Data

The App stores amateur radio contact information (QSOs) locally on your device, including:

  • Operator Callsign and Station Information.
  • Contact details (Callsigns, Names, Signal Reports, Frequencies).
  • Activity references (POTA/SOTA codes).

USB and Serial Data

The App accesses USB hardware to communicate with amateur radio equipment (CAT control). No personal data is collected from your radio equipment other than frequency and mode information used for logging.

2. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

QSO Pro does not sell or share your data with advertisers. Data is only transmitted to third-party services when explicitly initiated by you:

  • QRZ.com, LoTW, and Club Log: If you choose to sync your logs or lookup callsigns, your data is sent to these services via encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
  • POTA & SOTA APIs: The App fetches public data from pota.app and sotl.as based on your geographic region.

Note: We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services (QRZ, ARRL, etc.) as their use of your data is governed by their respective terms.

3. Data Storage and Deletion

  • Local Storage: All your logs and settings are stored locally on your device using a secure database.
  • User Control: You can delete individual contacts, entire logging sessions, or clear the entire database at any time using the Clear Log or Delete Session buttons within the App.
  • Backups: The App utilizes standard Android Auto-Backup to help you migrate your data to a new device. You can disable this in your Android system settings.

4. Security

We value your trust in providing us your information. We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) for all data transmitted between the App and third-party APIs. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
